Poem #14

You remind me of art
Like a biblical scene painted by Rembrandt, like Vision of Zacharias’
Or a powerful picture captured by Ansel Adams, like Bridalveil Fall
Or a Frank Sinatra serenade, like The Way You Look Tonight
Classic like a European roadster, like a ‘61 Jaguar E
Or a cinematic masterpiece, like Singin’ in the Rain
Sculpted to perfection, like a Buonarroti in Rome
Woven intricately, like a Stölzl with all the colours
This mellifluous love is inquisitive
Delving into every uncertainty
But victorious on every occasion
Because you always have the time for me
And it’s always the place I want to be, in your company
We’ll be holding hands, strolling through the park
With your blue eyes piercing the dark
And I want secret desserts in the middle of the night,
Picnics on grounds we’ll remember for life,
Train rides to places we’ll immortalise,
And to watch a million movies, then listen to all the lines you’ll memorise
I know you’d work your fingers to the bone
To make sure I never forget your love
And keep me laughing
Because it’s finally happening
I’m deciding to trust this feeling
And I’m banking on forever this time
