Poem #7

  • 1 min read

I’ve heard the stories

Describing girls like angels

And all the loves meant to last the ages

And I’ve read all the pages

And it was all just fairy stories

So unreal, it was almost boring

Til the day I met you

But you’ve got your fair hair

And your blue grey eyes

Which go a little green in just the right light

And when you smile in the mirror

While you’re brushing your teeth

Oh, you look so sweet

And I stay up late

Just to see your face

Every night

I wanna be yours til the AM

Cigarette smoke blowing through the room like a whisper

Your fingertips making me shiver

No one out there has me like you

And I want no one out there the way I want you

Tucking your hair behind your ear

Holding you close, I just want you here

It was all just fairy stories

So unreal, it was almost boring

Til the day I met you

You remind me of art Like a biblical scene painted by Rembrandt, like Vision of Zacharias’ Or a powerful picture captured by Ansel Adams, like Bridalveil Fall Or a Frank Sinatra serenade, like The Way
